Kell Brook Responds to Terence Crawford!

Recently it was a point of conversation that Kell “Special One” Brook (38-2, 26 KO’s) was hunting for a fight with WBO world welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (35-0, 26 KO’s).

The former welterweight champion traveled from the UK to the US openly looking for the showdown. From a name value standpoint, Brook would be a nice selection for Bud.

However, the Special One has not had a professional fight in all of 2019. Going a step beyond that, Brook has not fought at the 147lbs welterweight limit since May 27, 2017.

Some may remember that bout ending in a stoppage loss to Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr (25-0, 21 KO’s).

That put aside, when questioned about a fight with Kell Brook, Bud was quick to say he was down. So long as Brook made the weight, and the money was right, Crawford would even be willing to travel to the UK for the prizefight.

At the moment, Crawford has an upcoming fight with his mandatory challenger Egidijus “Mean Machine” Kavaliauskas (21-0-1, 17 KO’s). The prizefight with Kavaliauskas has been ill-received by the fans who want a bigger marque name opponent for Bud. This is why Brook would be a good fit.

STIRRING THE POT

Clearly, Brook got wind of the fact that Crawford made it known he was willing to face him. In response, the Special One took to his Twitter account to double down on his call out. Brook reassured that he would make the weight and questioned why Crawford did not sign to fight him earlier when the opportunity was available.

The active back and forth between the two boxers leaves fans with the impression that this bout might actually be brought to life.

Curiously though, sometime after posting his social media response to Bud, the Special One took it down. Why he did this is anyone’s guess. Let’s just hope that the UK fighter is not getting a case of cold feet before a potential negotiation process can even get under way!
