Devin Haney Dominates Brian Norman Jr. in WBO Title Fight
In just his second bout in the division, former undisputed lightweight champion, Devin “The Dream” Haney (33-0, 15 KO’s) became a three-division champion by toppling Brain Norman Jr. by UD. Along with Norman handing him his first professional loss, Haney stripped him of his WBO title.
Over the course of his duel with Norman, Haney was able to answer a number of questions regarding his chin, willingness to engage and power in the division. With the favorable win in his rearview mirror, it is now time to begin speculating on who is next for The Dream. Aside from himself, Lewis Crocker (IBF), Mario Barrios (WBC) and Rolando Romero (WBA) are his fellow champions.
Of these three, there is a bit of history between Haney and Romero. For a considerable amount of time, The Dream was trying to secure a bout with Teofimo Lopez, who was then good friends with Romero. Due their relationship, Romero delighted at frequently taking shots at Haney and the new WBO champion was not shy about returning fire.
Considering there is backstory, and this is a unification match, The Dream versus Romero is good as any other fight. Yet, for the present time, we will have to wait and see what is up Team Haney’s sleeve next.
