Vergil Ortiz Jr Looking to Defy Expectations!

On Friday, December 13 rising welterweight prospect Vergil Ortiz Jr (14-0, 14 KO’s) is aiming to etch another victory into his belt. In the main event of a DAZN card, Ortiz will take on Brad “King” Solomon (28-1, 9 KO’s) in the Fantasy Springs Casino located in Indio, California.

OLD POWER, NEW WRINKLES

Ahead of the bout, most view this as an easy ‘W’ to collect. This is mainly due to the heavy-handed Ortiz having knocked out all fourteen of his professional foes. In addition, though he has more experience, Solomon’s biggest win is a meager Adrian Granados and he doesn’t appear to tote any serious firepower.

However, he can box and move well which is something the young contender is not used to.

While Ortiz is dead set on obtaining the win, he is not overly concerned about the fashion which it comes.

Sure, Ortiz wants to impress, but he is also looking to diversify his own skill set. Although he is no expert on Solomon’s career, Ortiz knows that King is far more of a moving boxer than he is a stand-still banger.

Bearing this in mind, he is preparing himself for a tactical battle that he has to earn.

The rising contender enjoys this idea because he has not faced that type of style yet as a professional. This excites him because he does not yet know what tools this challenge will force him to use.

Ortiz delved a bit further into the subject during an interview conducted by RingTV.

“I know that he is 28-1, but he’s not a bang type of fighter. He doesn’t like to stay inside and a lot of my fights have been those type of fighters.

“So I think that we’re going to see how I react to this kind of fighter. A lot of people have been wanting me to fight someone who moves, who doesn’t just stay inside. And some people think I only do good with those type of fighters.

“So you know, for this fight I just want to prove to people that I can fight any type of way. I can adjust when I need to and they’re going to see how I do with that type of fighter.”
