Deontay Wilder Looking to Make Triumphant Return After Tyson Fury Trilogy

Ever since suffering his second consecutive loss, Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (42-2-1, 41KOs) has been relatively quiet. The sole exception was a social media post on Instagram congratulating Tyson Fury on his win. The Alabama native and top contender recently broke his silence, giving fight fans an update on how he’s doing mentally and physically as he sat down and talked with his wife on The Telli Swift Podcast.

Back on October 9, Fury and Wilder closed their bitter rivalry with a hellacious third fight. The fight saw a total of five knockdowns. Ultimately, Fury would seal Wilder’s fate with a brutal tenth round knockout victory! The Fight of the Year candidate was filled with back-and-forth action that produced blood and pushed both men to the brink, physically and mentally.

Many have wondered how the former champion is doing during the quiet spell. As well as, does he still want to continue his career.

He told Swift the following:

“I’m feeling great, I’m doing great you know, we didn’t get what we want, but we still got something out of it. I think we got something even bigger out of it besides just a victory and I’m grateful for that. You know I’m blessed all away around and I always say when I look around and I think things over, I see all my good days outweigh my bad.

With that being said, there’s no complaints at all. You just move forward and that’s the thing about it. You come up to a certain point as humans, we feel we come to a dead end or we fail and this is it for us…But for me this is not it, this is just the beginning. The best has yet to come for me.”

It seems like the former champion is at peace with everything currently in his career and life. Oftentimes viewed as delusional for some of his outlandish comments, one thing has always been consistent with Wilder. That’s his conviction, self belief and mental strength when he steps between the ropes.

While he’s out of title contention at the moment, there’s no shortage of big fight opportunities for him once he’s ready to return to the ring in 2022.
