Janibek Alimkhanuly Thanks Denzel Bentley
Heading into the first defense of his WBO middleweight title, Kazakhstani fighter Janibek “Qazaq Style” Alimkhanuly (13-0, 8 KO’s) was billed as a monster. He was riding a six-fight knockout streak when put in against UK import Denzel Bentley (17-2-1, 14 KO’s) and many believed the seventh was on the way. With the clang of the opening bell, the 2016 Olympian pounced on Bentley as it was scripted to happen.

Bentley however, was not crushed in the early blitz as Danny Dignum was in Alimkhanuly’s last match. Nor did he provide temporary resistance only to wilt and fall as Hassan N’Dam and Rob Brant previously did. Instead, as the rounds progressed, Bentley exuded more calm, control and began doling out significant damage himself. While he never appeared to be in serious trouble, Qazaq Style had to prove his chin on several occasions. Without question the WBO champion had to stop thinking mainly about power and utilize strategy over brawn. Apparently though, this was something that he greatly appreciated.
Up to this point, much of the current lore surrounding Alimkhanuly is how much he is avoided. Despite his calling for them, Qazaq Style has been unsuccessful in securing prizefights with his fellow champions. A great deal of this can be attributed to bad timing and circumstance, however. Yet, now with his aura of unbridled destruction punctured, will the other belt holders be quicker to unify? Or, will his fights be more difficult in general now that the competition has seen him look more mortal than mutant? Only time will tell, but luckily 3Kings Boxing will be here to tell the tale!
