Anthony Joshua Reveals Willingness to Face Filip Hrgovic
Two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony “AJ” Joshua (28-3, 25KO) is back in the heavyweight title picture. While waiting to see who wins the undisputed title, AJ is open to fighting IBF mandatory challenger Filip “El Animal” Hrgovic (17-0, 14KO).
Joshua continues to be the buzz in the boxing community folliwng his destruction of former MMA champion Francis Ngannou. He was so impressive that British promoter Eddie Hearn gave him the famous alias which once belonged to Mike Tyson.
Now the boxing world wants to know what’s next as it’s believed Joshua will face the winner between WBC champion Tyson Fury and unified champion Oleksandr Usyk. AJ isn’t one to sit around waiting, especially given how there is a rematch clause in the undisputed showdown.
THE NEXT POSSIBLE OPPONENT
While speaking with iFL TV, the British heavyweight said he was open to facing El Animal.
“Yeah, I’ll fight Hrgovic. Let’s Go.”
This is good news for the Croatian, as he’s kind of been pushed to the side. Hearn spoke on the possibility of making a fight featuring Joshua and Hrgovic last year.
El Animal has been sitting in the mandatory position for a long time. Hearn’s focus on getting Joshua back to the top of the mountain looks to put threaten the career Hrgovic However, a fight with the two-time unified champion would be an acceptable consolation prize.
