Artur Beterbiev Remains Undefeated Against Dmitry Bivol
Following a rather tactical fight, unified light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KO’s) defeated WBA 175-pound champion by way of majority decision. With the victory, Beterbiev has collected all the belts and became the undisputed champion of the division.
As many expected, Bivol opened the duel using his feet and swifter knuckles to set the tempo and distance that he wanted. As the duel wore on however, Beterbiev was able to find his range land the heavier, more crowd pleasing shots. In his pursuit, Beterbiev would concentrate on and get in some great body work.
With this being said, there was no point in the entire fight where either combatant appeared to be in any serious trouble. Throughout the twelve rounds, the dynamics of the battle toggled between Bivol sticking rapid-fire shots and moving around the whole ring and Beterbiev stalking then wailing on a shelled-up Bivol.
Nevertheless, when the match went to the scorecards, the judges crowned Beterbiev as the victor by way of majority decision with the scores of 114-114, 115-113 and 116-112.
