David Benavidez thinks he’ll stop Jose Uzcategui
When super middleweight boxer David “Red Flag” Benavidez (24-0, 21 KO’s) goes head to head with Jose “Bolivita” Uzcategui (31-4, 26 KO’s), he is fully cognizant that a lot rides on the line. For starters, their fight will be a WBC title eliminator. In all actuality, this will be the second title eliminator that Benavidez has competed in, with the first coming against Ronald Ellis on March 13. So, if he is victorious over Uzcategui, he will have a direct route to challenge WBA, WBO and WBC super middleweight champion Saul Alvarez.
Like most fighters, Benavidez has no doubt that he will overcome Bolivita when they seek to match wits on November 13. This does not mean that Red Flag is looking at Uzcategui like a hapless victim. The Arizonan native realizes that Uzcategui is a capable fighter and shares his hunger to become a world champion as well. Bolivita will be riding a two-fight win streak since dropping a unanimous decision loss to Lionell Thompson on December 28, 2019. Yet, the Venezuelan realizes that a win over Benavidez would be a life changing event. Let Red Flag tell it though, his losing to Uzcategui will only remain a fantasy.
“I don’t fear anything about Jose Uzcategui, he’s a tough competitor. He’s been an ex-world champion so I have to give him that respect that every boxer deserves because he’s been the next champion just like I’m the next champion. He knows big fights are on the horizon after this fight, so I got to prepare for him accordingly. But honestly, I feel like I am the better fighter. I got more skills, I got more power, I got more speed and I got more hunger too. So, I feel like its going to be a great night for me and my team and I’m going to go out there and get the KO victory!”
YOU GOING TO SLEEP!
One of the main things that Benavidez is known for is his come-forward, high-volume style of fighting. His smothering style of combat has been beneficial to him and earned him 21 professional knockouts. The confidence in his method of waging war is just one more reason why he is firm in his belief that he gets past Bolivita.
“Since I came back from my suspension, all my fights have been knockouts and I just been getting stronger, getting more intelligent in the ring, more experienced and I’m about to hit 25. I think my man strength is finally coming in, so I feel good. I’ve been working hard, this is everything that I’ve been working on for a long, long time and I feel like I have supreme confidence right now in my power and my speed and everything I do. So, I feel like this is why this fight’s going to be a knockout.”
Clearly, Benavidez is planning on collecting his twenty-fifth professional victory, but before he can claim it, he will have to go to war with Uzcategui. Luckily, regardless of the winner, 3kingsboxing will be there to cover the news!
