Edgar Berlanga to be Suspended by NYSAC for Biting Roamer Angulo
Super middleweight boxer Edgar “The Chosen One” Berlanga (20-0, 16 KO’s) has been experiencing a bit of professional turbulence. This is because after launching his career with sixteen straight knockout victories, Berlanga, 25, has been relegated to four straight unanimous decision wins. As his competition level has increased, his ability to figure his opponents out has diminished. Now the Brooklyn-born boxer has another headache to contend with.
In his last duel, versus Roamer Angulo, Berlanga once again had his hands full with a very game adversary. In fact, he became so flustered during the bout that he boldly attempted to take a bite of Angulo. Many have compared the incident to when Mike Tyson famously bit a plug out of Evander Holyfield’s ear. Now, as reported by ESPN, it’s been revealed that Berlanga’s crude act has resulted in suspension. The New York State Athletic Commission has stated that Berlanga will be suspended for 6 months and fined $10,000.
Understandably, The Chosen One has released a statement apologizing for the barbaric move and vowed to be more mindful in the future. For the time being however, let’s sit tight and see just how long Berlanga will have to sit on the sideline. Regardless of what the actual verdict turns out to be, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news!
