Caleb Plant vs Mike Lee in the works for Nashville or Chicago
3kingsboxing.comhas learned newly crowned IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant is in talks with light heavyweight contender Mike Lee for a summer title defense.
The two likely locations being discussed are Nashville, Tennessee and Chicago; each fighters’ respective hometowns.
Plant, the Tennessee native, hasn’t fought at home since turning pro back in 2014. He has expressed his desire to stage a home title defense in 2019.
Lee, a Notre Dame graduate, built up a following in the Chicago area following a Subway campaign commercial.
If the fight happens in Lee’s backyard, it’s likely to happen at either Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, or DePaul University’s Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
We would also see Lee, a longtime light heavyweight fringe contender, dropping down in weight to super middleweight for his first world title opportunity.
In January, Plant dethroned Jose Uzcategui in a one-sided unanimous decision victory. In that fight Plant dropped Uzcategui twice.
