Crawford v Brook deal reached!

WBO welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (36-0, 27KOs) will take on former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (39-2, 27KOs) on November 14. These fighters have been negotiating for a while. Now with this agreement in place, it gives Brook another chance to become champion. The fight will likely take place in the bubble in Las Vegas, with Omaha, Nebraska Crawford’s hometown also a possibility.

While Brook is a name in the sport, this fight does not figure to be competitive at all. Brook has suffered broken orbital bones to both eyes in the past against Gennady Golovkin and Errol Spence. Through it all however, Brook has maintained the belief that he can not only still compete with the best at 147, but he can beat them.

He now will get that chance as Crawford looks to make the fourth consecutive defense of his WBO title. Assuming he is victorious, as most thinks he will be, he would be on course to face Errol Spence (26-0, 21KOs) in a high stakes unification bout in 2021.

While this is not the fight we want, it is always great to see the sport’s best in action. Considering the year 2020 has been with COVID-19, any fight with Crawford at this point would be accepted. However, in 2021, we need to see him step up to the plate and face off with the other big dogs in the division.
