Crawford dispatches Brook in four rounds!
After a trash-talk filled fight week between Terence Crawford (36-0, 27KOs) and Kell Brook (39-2, 27KOs), the time for talking was over.
In the opening round, Kell Brook came out fast immediately pumping his jab, as well as landing some hard right-hands as he looked to get momentum going against boxing’s best fighter. A slow starter, Crawford was calculated in his approach. He instead overwhelmed the former IBF welterweight champion and would slowly work himself in the fight.
BOOM!
Round four would arrive and end after Crawford landed a hard right jab that severely hurt Brook, who went stumbling towards the ropes. Seeing his foe hurt, Crawford jumped on the Brit like a shark who smells blood in the water! After being allowed to continue, a clearly hurt Brook was swarmed immediately by the WBO welterweight champion. He unleashed punishing combinations that forced referee Tony Weeks to jump in and call a halt to the action!
With the win now secured, focus will surely shift to who is next for the Omaha native. With trouble brewing between Crawford and Top Rank, it will be interesting to see if Bob Arum can deliver his best fighter the big fight he is badly seeking, whether it is unified champion Errol Spence (26-0, 21KOs) or WBA champion Manny Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39KOs).
Crawford improves his record to 37-0, 28 KOs while Brook’s record 39-3, 27 KOs.
Crawford stated in his post-fight interview that he is looking to secure a fight with Manny Pacquiao. We shall see if a big fight materializes for Crawford in 2021.
