Damian Sosa Claims a Decision Win Over Marques Valle
Junior middleweight veteran Damian “Samurai” Sosa (35-2, 12KO) defeated undefeated prospect Marques Valle (10-1, 7KO).
These guys came out throwing hard shots early at a tremendous pace. Valle tried to fight tall and take advantage of that long reach by landing the jab and hard right hand. He even did a good job of digging to the body.
Yet, Samurai, being the veteran fighter, kept coming forward and keeping the pressure on the young prospect. He landed hard right hands and was effective at close-range with crisp counters.
In the middle rounds, the pace continued as both men were not looking to take a step back. Sosa successfully used his experience to push Valle against the ropes to unload hard shots and that overhand right.
Valle started finding a home for the lead left hook that hurt the Mexican momentarily. In addition, he went to the body looking to slow down the veteran Sosa. However, the Puerto Rican needed to stay off the ropes because it gave the impression that he wasn’t in control of the fight.
There was a sense of urgency in the corner of Valle, as he was relentlessly attacking the body and landed solid uppercuts that hurt the Mexican.
Yet, Samurai didn’t wilt and stayed up in Valle’s chest while landing the right hand until the final bell. One judge scored it 98-92 for Valle with two judges scoring it 97-93, and 96-94 in favor of the Sosa.
