Devin Haney Offers Up Ryan Garcia a New Nickname

To kick off the fight tour for their April 20 duel, WBC junior welterweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (31-0, 15 KO’s) and “King Ry” Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KO’s) staged the premiere presser in Time Square located in New York City. Despite openly wanting to move the fight to Vegas, Ryan Garcia still sought to make a memorable spectacle of the event.

ZAMUNDA RETURNS TO NEW YORK!!

Lucky for him, King Ry is fresh off a viral TikTok hair care video illustrating how to capture that classic slick Arthur Fonzarelli look by slathering CVS lotion through his follicles. No doubt, looking to supply more fresh content to his litany of social media followers, Garcia leaned heavily into his “King” moniker and stole a page from Coming to America.

When he was announced to the stage, King Ry was led out by six flower bearers. As he walked to literally a massive throne on the stage, the six softly smiling women sprinkled rose petals on his path. Following the official presser, Haney gave a bit more insight on his thoughts regarding Garcia’s flamboyant entrance.

“That’s Queen Ry, he’s a diva!”

PART TIME GANGSTER

Following the snazzy entrance, Garcia would be confronted and grilled by the Haneys about a number of things. The itinerary included comments about Garcia wanting to move the fight to Vegas, quitting in his battle with Abdul “Tank” Wahid, sneaking around with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and generally not being a man of his word.

Essentially doubling down on the diva theme, and supplying a crooked compliment, The Dream supplied his viewpoint that Garcia was in the fight game purely for economic reasons and not for glory.

“At the end of the day, Ryan is picking the biggest fights. Tank was a huge fight, this is a huge fight. So, he is getting paid big money for the fight, so that’s why he is taking it. It’s not like he is taking it for bragging rights.”

As this showdown draws closer, the two one-time civil rivals are growing more and more venomous by the hour. Let’s hope all this mounting acrimony results in a scientifically violent and lively affair come fight night. In the meantime however, let’s continue to enjoy this entertaining feud in motion.
