Dillian Whyte Tears into Team Joshua For Facing Jermaine Franklin Next!

Heavyweight title challenger Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (29-3, 19 KOs) has come out furious about not getting the rematch with former unified champion Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs). According to Sky Sports, Joshua will face Jermaine “989 Assassin” Franklin (21-1, 14 KOs) in London on April 1 following both parties having agreed to terms. 989 Assassin and Whyte were both on a short list of names as possible opponents for Joshua’s return.

Whyte has been chasing a rematch with Joshua since suffering his first career defeat in 2016. He quickly called for the fight after defeating Franklin in November 2022. So it’s understandable why Whyte is infuriated hearing the man he defeated is getting the fight he earned.

DILLIAN WHYTE IS HIGHLY UPSET

During an interview with United Kingdom’s The Sun, Whyte did not hold back while expressing his frustration.

“I am all right, but facing the usual bastards, I just want to make some fights. But it’s fucking frustrating. Everyone was told, all the boxing fans, the winner of me and Franklin fights AJ. So this is a fucked up thing.”

Whyte was not done by any means. He brought up the financial implications of making the rematch.

“I know DAZN need content for their subscribers, but why choose to fight a low-profile American coming off a loss instead of having a massive British tear-up?”

Whyte makes a compelling argument. From a financial standpoint, a rematch between the two rivals would bring out the UK fans in droves. Their fight wouldn’t need any build-up as the boxing community is familiar with their history.

He would end the interview by taking a shot at the date being on April Fool’s Day.

“It’s no surprise to me that they have chosen April 1 for this battle of the fools.”
