Tevin Farmer and JoJo Diaz: All typing! No fighting!
A fight that peaked some interest from fight fans may have lost the little appeal it had!
Tevin Farmer (30-4-1, 6KO), the IBF junior lightweight champion and his ego has become damn near unbearable! The Philly native can be found on social media daily expressing his desire to fight guys such as Gervonta Davis and JoJo Diaz.
His words aren’t just the regular trash talk, they’re downright disrespectful. So bad at times that you would think it would lead to the fights being made due to anger from the receiving party!
He and Diaz have waged a social media battle for sometime now.
Recently, however, Diaz proclaimed that a deal was indeed done for him to challenge Farmer for the IBF strap on January 30.
UNDONE DEAL?
Farmer quickly disputed that, saying a deal wasn’t done. Apparently, he is mulling over a contract renewal with DAZN and Matchroom Boxing that has him looking at another multi-fight deal. Can’t really get mad at that! Although, it’s concerning as to why wouldn’t a Diaz fight be apart of the deal? Maybe it is but we will see what happens.
Both men have their fair share of fans who’ve placed the blame on one or another. Both of these guys look very suspect with their intentions of really trying to get this fight done. They both say they want it, both guys continue to hurl verbal insults, yet no deal has materialized.
JoJo Diaz’ (30-1, 15KOs) lone defeat came at the hands of Gary Russell Jr back in May 2018 when he unsuccessfully challenged for the WBC featherweight title. People want to see how he’s improved since the defeat and how he’d fare against Farmer, who poses similarities in his fighting style as Russell.
The IBF champ is a confident, slick fighter that has made four consecutive title defenses. Yet not one defense has come against a fellow champion or a world recognized top tier fighter. For all the hooting and hollering he does on social media, his actions don’t match his words nor, in this case, his fingers.
At this point the question must be asked.
