Farmer and Diaz Are Finally Going to Fight!

After years of ferocious social media barking and face-to-face run-ins, IBF world super featherweight champion Tevin “American Idol” Farmer (30-4-1, 6 KO’s) will defend his title against Joseph “Jo Jo” Diaz (30-1, 15 KO’s). The two will lock horns on January 30 in Miami, Florida at Meridian at Island Gardens. The bout will stand as Farmer’s fifth defense of the title.

With the announcement of this fight, a great sigh of relief blew through the boxing world. As previously stated, this prizefight has been brewing for quite some time. Not only have they been at one another’s neck for an extended period, the two men are legitimately two of the best combatants in the division. Once in the ring, it will be intriguing to see whose style emerges victorious.

From the outside looking in, Joseph Diaz will aim to take the fight to Farmer with his heavy-handed, two-fisted attack. The question will be whether Jo-Jo can consistently land quality leather on the extremely defensive American Idol.

Both men have remained fairly busy by fighting three fights apiece in both 2018 and 2019. In his second fight of 2018, Diaz dropped a unanimous decision loss to Gary Allen Russell Jr (30-1, 18 KO’s). The loss to Russell is Jo-Jo’s only professional blemish. Outside of that particular setback, Diaz has proven to be a force to be reckoned with inside the ring.

Diaz took to his Twitter account to announce the competitive bout once finalized. If the pre-fight hype is anything like their past interaction, the build-up will be quite a wild ride!
