Frampton and Fury to Co-Headline on August 18th
Carl Frampton will be making his return to the ring on August 18th in Windsor Park. Frampton will have an opportunity to fight in front of the home crowd, in Belfast, Norhern Ireland.
Frampton defeated Nonito Donaire by unanimous decision back in April. With the victory he picked up the interim WBO Featherweight Title. Although many were hoping he would be matched up against Josh Warrington, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
The opponent could possibly be Luke Jackson, who is currently ranked number five by the WBO. Jackson a native of Australia was last in the ring against Surachet Tongmala, a bout he won by second round knockout. It’s still early in the process and although Jackson is the name being floated around, the bout isn’t set in stone just yet.
Also making a return after scoring a victory over Sefer Seferi this past weekend, will be none other than Tyson Fury. The former heavyweight champion made a lackluster return, winning the bout after Seferi refused to come out of his corner for the fifth round.
It’s part of the process for Fury who had been out of the ring for well over two years. He is simply looking to get rounds in and work himself back into boxing shape.
I don’t expect the former world champion to face a tough opponent, just yet. This is more about slowly bringing him along into contention. Fury who weighed exactly 30 pounds more for Seferi then he did when he faced Wladimir Klitschko. He has a lot of work to still do but there’s no denying he put in a lot of time in the gym to shed some pounds.
Can Fury look better the next time out? Currently there aren’t any talks on who he will face, 3KingsBoxing.com will have an update as soon as more information becomes available.
