Stephen Fulton tests positive for COVID-19
Top super bantamweight contender Stephen “Cool Boy Steph” Fulton (18-0, 8KOs), who was set to face Angelo Leo (19-0, 9KOs) for the vacant WBO super bantamweight title, has tested positive for COVID-19 and been removed from the bout.
The Philly native was looking to become a world champion for the first time as he was heading into a battle of unbeaten fighters. He took to Twitter to break the devastating news.
With Fulton now out of the picture, Tremaine Williams (19-0, 6KOs) will get a chance to cash in. Williams will be elevated to the main event to take on Leo for the vacant WBO super bantamweight title. He was previously set to face Raeese Aleem (16-0, 10KOs) in the co-main event.
This short-notice change will doubtlessly be a challenge for both men, each aiming to win their first world title.
