“Chocolatito” Destroys Moises Fuentes in Five

Following consecutive loses to Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez looked to resurrect his career against Moises Fuentes tonight in Las Vegas. And on this night, dominating Fuentes apart in route to brutal 5th round KO.

The shorter Gonzalez started off the fight at a measured pace, opening it up a bit towards the end of round one. At the beginning of the second, Fuentes started to fight on the front foot. A minute into the round, Fuentes suffered a nasty cut over his right eye. Subsequently, Gonzalez went on the attack like a pit bull at the sight of blood. Chocolatito was showing good bounce in his legs early on, looking very sharp.

After controlling the first four rounds, Chocolatito ended the fight in sensational fashion in round five. Having cornered Fuentes on the ropes, Gonzalez struck with a fantastic right hook that grounded Fuentes like a sack of potatoes 44 seconds into the round. Referee Robert Byrd immediately called a halt to the contest, as Fuentes was done.

Is Roman Gonzalez back? We can’t fully know just yet. On this night at least, Roman did what he was supposed to do against an inferior opponent.
