Eddie Hearn Confident George Kambosos Fights Devin Haney for Undisputed

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn believes that with former unified lightweight champion Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko out of the picture, unified champion George “Ferocious” Kambosos (20-0, 10 KO’s) and WBC champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (27-0, 15 KO’s) can finally get it on.

KAMBOSOS VS HANEY TAKE ONE

Boxing sometimes is like a rollercoaster ride. It will take you through some crazy ups and downs, along with mind-blowing twists and turns. Thus bringing us to the Kambosos Jr and Haney saga which has taken its share of bumps. For the longest time, fans believed that the only fight in the lightweight division that made sense was for true undisputed between the two champions.

However, fans got to see the situation explode in real-time on social media as negotiations fell apart. This resulted in the unified champion focusing on fighting Hi-Tech and targeting a showdown in June.

Unfortunately, Lomachenko returned home to join the military in helping defend the borders of his homeland from Russia. This has opened the door for talks to resume between the champions’ teams once again. Furthermore, this time it looks like things are going a lot smoother.

KAMBOSOS VS HANEY TAKE TWO

During an interview with Fight Hype, Hearn expressed that DAZN is looking to do everything possible to make the fight happen.

“DAZN are absolutely desperate to make Haney/Kambosos. They’ve been pushing for a few weeks now, they’ve made offers for the fight. They’re also speaking to Lou DiBella on the Kambosos team to try and seam it all together. That’s absolutely the fight that DAZN wants to make.”

Hearn doubled down when asked who fights the unified champion on the proposed date of June 5.

“Devin Haney! I’m very confident that fight gets made […] that’s the undisputed fight. It’s the obvious fight to make, hopefully we can make it happen.”

The boxing community will keep their fingers crossed and pray that this time around, the fight for undisputed happens.
