Eddie Hearn open to making Dereck Chisora the Main Event after shocking press conference!
If a squeaky wheel gets the oil, then perhaps an irate heavyweight can get top billing! While at an official press event to promote Prograis v Taylor, Dereck “War” Chisora abruptly stole all the limelight.
The unpredictable boxer did so by demanding one of two things. Displeased with not being the headliner, War demanded that one of two things. Either his fight gets upgraded to the main event, or he receives greater financial compensation. At the time, Chisora appeared to be quite inflexible on the issue! In fact, before the presser concluded, War rose up from the table and walked out.
Although, he made sure to curse frequently, threaten to ‘squash’ Prograis and told promoter Kalle Sauerland to “fuck off” before he left.
A MATTER OF MOTIVATION
In the aftermath, Eddie Hearn weighed-in on the scuttlebutt during an interview conduct by Kugan Cassius. Apparently, no one wants to be on, or remain on, the bad side of Dereck Chisora! Even though he did not say that he would definitely alter the show, Hearn did take the time to say that he was willing to alter the order of fights provided the proper motivation.
While Hearn made the comment wearing a smile, there appeared to be more than a little bit of truth in his statement.
“I don’t want any trouble with Del Boy, ever! […] Chisora’s Chisora, he gets the headlines, you know. What we’re also releasing over the next couple of days, is the head to head, our version of the Gloves Are Off that we just filmed in LA with Parker.
“It was unbelievable, so I don’t know. Maybe you turn around to me, maybe the fans turn around and say, ‘No! That’s what we want as main event!’ We’ll see.”
It will be very intriguing to see how this plays out in the near future. Much kudo’s will need to be extended to Chisora if he is able to successfully bogart his way into the main event slot!
3kingsboxing will certainly stay on top of this entertaining new development!
