Eddie Hearn Gives His Thoughts On UFC Events Without Fans
Matchroom boxing promoter Eddie Hearn was a guess on the SI Boxing with Chris Mannix podcast recently where he discussed a number topics. With boxing gearing up to follow in the footsteps of the WWE and UFC in putting on live events without fan, he shared his thoughts on the matter.
THOUGHTS ON HOLDING FIGHTS WITHOUT FANS!
“I did a few interviews a couple of weeks ago where I said things like I felt it was little bit of bad taste at the time. I do think it’s a moving beast, as everything gets better and once someone does it, it’s almost acceptable.”
KUDOS TO DANA WHITE
“You have to really applaud Dana White for pulling it off. I’ve not criticized him about it but it wouldn’t feel right for me. America’s different, it’s state by state. If it’s allowed you can do it. The reality is that it’s not allowed here yet.”
“I just messaged him on Friday and told him ‘you’re a crazy mofo’ and he comes back and said ‘thank you brother I appreciate it.’ Then he messaged me yesterday, it was massive you know? One down, two or three more to go.”
It’s been an obviously trying time for the sport of boxing as everything has been put on the back burner in terms organizing and putting together live events. With the WWE and UFC leading the way in the holding of events with its top combatants, it gives boxing a blueprint to follow and potentially make better as the proper safety protocols are learned and put it place to protect everyone that’ll be involved.
It won’t be an easy task for the promoters and their staff as they adjust to this “temporary” new normal. It will have to be done to get boxing back up and running.
