Jarrett Hurd to defend the WBA and IBF titles against Julian Williams in the spring
Jarrett Hurd who’s coming off a fourth round knockout victory over Jason Welborn in December, is ready to get his 2019 started in a big way!
The unified junior middleweight champion will do just that when he takes on former world title challenger and top contender Julian Williams 3kingsboxing.com has learned.
While there’s no official date set in stone, the two dates being considered are April 27 and May 11. The fight will be televised on either Showtime or Fox.
The location of the fight is also up in the air at the moment. However Brooklyn, New York and the Washington D.C area have been mentioned.
This fight is very intriguing due to the styles of both men. Hurd is a big junior middleweight with a fan friendly style that always makes entertaining fights. What he lacks in the skills department, he makes up for with stamina, resilience and will.
As for Williams, he’s no stranger to facing durable fighters. In his first opportunity at a world title, he made a very good account of himself against then IBF champion Jermall Charlo in 2016. He landed some good shots and did well behind the jab, however, a beautiful counter uppercut would seal his fate in the fifth round.
