Jack Catterall Attempts to Goad Josh Taylor into a Revenge Match
Four months ago, super lightweight boxer Jack “El Gato” Catterall (26-1, 13 KO’s) took on then undisputed 140-pound champion Josh “The Tartan Tornado” Taylor (19-0, 13 KO’s). What began as a great culmination of effort and sacrifice quickly turned into a nightmare for El Gato.
This is because after waging twelve rounds of entertaining action, Taylor was awarded the victory by way of split decision. The verdict was widely denounced as a significant number of viewers who saw the fight felt as though Catterall should have gotten the nod. In fact, the decision was so disliked that it was even put under investigation.
ABOUT TIME TO MAKE A MOVE!
Since that controversial win, Taylor has not been the most vocal chap around and he has yet to sign another fight. Obviously, if given his choice, El Gato would jump at the chance to get a bit of payback. He’s been saying that since the night of the fight. The Tartan Tornado has not come across as so ready-to-go. Initially he said that he’d go up to welterweight, yet little has materialized in that regard. Now, Catterall has taken to his social media to needle the champ and essentially accuse him of cowardice.
It will be revealing to see what the unified champion does next. Since his sticky bout with Catterall, Taylor has dropped his WBA title and with it his undisputed status. With no real traction for appealing fights at 147, all eyes remain on the most belt-holding champion at 140. Thankfully though, no matter how the situation resolves itself, 3Kings Boxing will be there to report the news!
