Janibek Alimkhanuly Calls For A Unification With Jermall Charlo
The middleweight division has some movement, not in the way of fights getting made, but with the crowing of a new champion. Janibek “Qazaq Style” Alimkhanuly” (12-0, 8KO) is the recipient of the WBO middleweight title, and wasted no time in calling for a unification with WBC champion Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (32-0, 22KO).
THE WBO EXPLANATION OF EVENTS
On August 26, the WBO posted the official explanation behind Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade vacating the middleweight belt to re-visit the fight at super-middleweight with Zach Parker. The two were supposed to fight in May until Boo Boo suffered an injury that postponed the fight.
Boxing fans were left to ponder what is next for Alimkhanuly who defeated Danny Dignum for the interim title on May 21. Qazaq Style has been waiting for a shot at the title when the WBO ordered him and Andrade to fight back in 2021. Well, he will have to wait no longer as the WBO made it official that effective immediately, Alimkhanuly is elevated to full champion status.
ALIMKHANULY IS LOOKING TO KEEP HIS WORD
Earlier in the year, the extremely vocal fighter from Kazakhstan put a target on the back of Charlo, providing he becomes a champion. Some fans believed at the time he was merely talking, and fans who felt that way, don’t know Alimkhanuly at all!

The newly elevated champion has turned up the heat in backing up his claim of wanting to unify with the Hit Man.
Keep in mind, that this means Charlo’s advisor Al Haymon of Premier Boxing Champions, and Alimkhanuly’s promoter Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, will need to come together once again to make the fight.
The fingers of boxing fans are crossed that the fight gets made, bringing the division one step closer to undisputed.
