Keith Thurman Warns Danny Garcia After Call Out
In his last tour of duty, two-division champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (37-3, 21 KO’s) claimed the scalp of former amateur standout Jose Benavidez Jr. He defeated the game boxer by way of majority decision in his debut in the super welterweight division. Unsurprisingly, the accomplished fighter wasted no time in calling out fighters in the aftermath of his victory. Amongst those names was a rematch with former unified welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (30-1, 22 KO’s).
Thurman and Garcia first locked horns on March 4, 2017 in a WBA and WBC unification. “One Time” ended up putting the very first blemish on Swift’s record when he beat him by split decision. At the moment, the former unified welterweight champion is in need of a dance partner himself. When Thurman was last in the ring, he was knocking a bit of ring rust off while facing Mario Barrios. Despite needing an opponent, however, and his need to stay relevant, Thurman did not come across as all that receptive to Garcia’s invitation to a second rumble.
Ideally, One Time will come around because Thurman vs Garcia 2 should make for a good scrap. Especially if neither can unearth a better match-up, this is a duel that the fans should be able to get behind. Yet, only time will tell how this resolves itself so let’s wait and see how it all plays out!
