WBO super lightweight title holder Maurice Hooker will be joining the World Boxing Super Series.
The WBSS tournament as announced is coming to super lightweight division.
Hooker went into Terry Flanagan’s backyard and got a hard fought victory picking up the vacant WBO Super Lightweight Title in the process.
This will be the second American to enter the tournament along with Regis Prograis. The previous tournaments had only one American name. The new WBO champion (a 6-1 underdog against Flanagan), will be joining some of the best talent in the division.
Jose Ramirez, the WBC super lightweight title holder may end up being the only champion not to enter the tournament.
Hooker will be looking to make a name for himself and play spoiler once more. Can the young American champion make some noise in the tournament? One thing is for sure, he made the best of his opportunity in a fight most experts picked him to lose.
