Emanuel Navarrete & Jessie Magdaleno to fight for vacant WBO featherweight title
Heavy hitters Emanuel Navarrete (31-1, 27KOs) and Jessie Magdaleno (28-1, 18KOs) are set to square off for the vacant WBO featherweight title. This all comes after both men’s promoter Top Rank placed the only bid for $250,000 at the purse bid. The fight will take place on either October 17 or 24 at the bubble in Las Vegas.
Navarrete punched his way onto the scene by upsetting then-WBO junior featherweight champion Isaac Dogboe in December of 2018. He would follow that up by stopping the former champion in their rematch the following year. Ever since winning the title, he’s been nothing but must-see TV. As he looks to become a two-division world champion, he’ll have to get by former WBO junior featherweight champion Magdaleno. His only loss came to Dogboe.
This fight will be interesting considering the styles of the two fighters. Also, both men have the ability to end the fight with their power. Navarrete, a tall and rangy fighter, brings nothing but pressure, which Magdaleno has demonstrated problems with previously. However, he possesses the skills to box and will surely cause issues for Navarrete at some point in their fight.
This battle will truly be an interesting one to watch.
