Daniel Roman Looking To Expose Mandatory Challenger Murodjon Akhmadaliev
On January 30 at the Meridian at Island Gardens in Miami, Florida, WBA/IBF world Super Bantamweight champion Daniel Roman (27-2, 10 KOs) will defend those titles against undefeated WBA mandatory contender Murodjon Akhmadaliev (7-0, 6 KOs).
The City of Angels Boxing gym in Los Angeles held a public workout on January 24. The LA-based, 29-year-old champion would talk about his upcoming fight while taking part in the event.
“He makes a few mistakes, he likes to fight with his hands down. Not sure if that’s his style, but those are the flaws I see in him. Akhmadaliev might not have the experience as a pro, but he was a great Olympic amateur who won a bronze medal. At this level, there are no easy fights. His style and my style are going to make for a great bout.”
THE ROAD TO THE RING
Akhmadaliev has been on the fast track from the beginning of his career. He would become the WBA’s top contender following a 9th round TKO win over Isaac Zarate in November 2018. In spite of his limited professional experience, the 25-year-old from Namangan, Uzbekistan has the skill and talent that it’s worth the risk putting him in the ring against tough, hard-nosed world champion.
Roman also said he’s in great shape and his shoulder injury is 100 percent and completely healed. The aforementioned injury forced him to pull out of a previously scheduled bout against Akhmadaliev on September 13, 2019.
Roman – Akhmadaliev will air live on DAZN on a multiple world title fight card headlined. Demetrius Andrade will headline as he defends the WBO world title against Luke Keeler. Given the styles of Roman and Akhadaliev, it’s a fight that can’t help but be an exciting fight. Don’t be surprised if these two super bantamweights produce the fight of the night.
