Sebastian Fundora Confirms Spence Out & Crawford Possibly Next
Unified junior middleweight champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora (21-1-1, 13KO) vs unified welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (40-0, 31KO) could be on the table for this year.
After winning the titles against Tim Tszyu, Fundora was confronted by former unified welterweight champion Errol Spence, who was looking to cut the line. Crawford took the Texan on a trip down memory lane with a reminder of their fight results and to work his way back up.
The Towering Inferno was adamant about facing Crawford over Spence. Yet, boxing fans would later learn that Fundora versus Spence was indeed in the process of taking place.
A UNIFICATION POSSIBLY ON THE HORIZON
Well, that fight may be shelved. Fundora posted a picture on social media that confirms rumors of Spence not being ready to fight.
In addition, he added Crawford to the picture, indicating that perhaps they will tangle in a major unification. However, fans shouldn’t jump the gun as the unified welterweight champion must get past WBA junior middleweight champion Israil Madrimov on August 3.
This author would rather see Fundora face Crawford over Spence. The last image fans and pundits have of the former unified champion was the one-sided beatdown he took from Crawford in 2023. For the Towering Inferno, a victory over Bud would solidify him as the man of the division and come with extremely high praise.
A victory for Crawford would only add to his legacy. He would have a shot at an incredible feat of becoming a three-divisional undisputed champion. In addition, Bud would cement his claim as the best fighter of this era and a top pound for pound fighter.
