Tyrone Spong and Bryant Jennings Possible Opponents for Oleksandr Usyk.
3kingsboxing.com has learned unbeaten heavyweight contender Tyrone Spong (13-0, 12KO) is considered as one of two heavyweights being considered as a possible opponent for Oleksandr Usyk on October 12.
Spong is an undefeated former kickboxer who has compiled 13 wins, with 12 coming by way of knockout. While he’s flashed potential, it’s hard to gauge how good he really is considering the limited opposition on his resume.
Also in the mix is former world title challenger Bryant Jennings (24-4, 14KO). He’s coming off a clear unanimous decision loss to rising prospect Joe Joyce on July 13.
Jennings brings the pedigree and experience against top notch competition.
However, Spong brings in the unknown excitement of whether he’s that good, as well as if his power is legit. One downside, although it may not matter, he hasn’t fought since December of 2018.
The former cruiserweight undisputed champion and top five pound-for-pound fighter from the Ukraine will be the overwhelming favorite no matter who’s chosen.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.
