Oscar Valdez may face Shakur Stevenson next!
It appears that Shakur Stevenson could be getting a title opportunity in 2019 after all. On July 13 he made quick work of Alberto Guevara, knocking him out in three rounds.
Afterwards, Stevenson again called out IBF featherweight champion Josh Warrington with the two men having a brief back and forth on Twitter. It appears though that another champion that was mentioned by Stevenson may have to deal with the young prospect.
3kingsboxing.com has learned the WBO has ordered Oscar Valdez to defend his title against the mandatory challenger!
A purse bid has been scheduled for Friday August 2 at 9:00 a.m., which will only happen if the two sides can’t reach an agreement.
However, Valdez’s manager has come out and stated a fight with Stevenson will not happen. He states Valdez is struggling to make 126 pounds and would only stay at the weight for a unification with Warrington or former multi-weight champion Carl Frampton.
It appears it’s a unification bout or fight with Frampton for Valdez as he closes out his time at featherweight.
What will he do?
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.
