Keyshawn Davis Must be Reprimanded For Albright Altercation

Some actions should not be tolerated and must be dealt with swiftly and thoroughly. Such is the case for the former WBO lightweight world champion, Keyshawn “The Businessman” Davis (13-0, 9 KOs). What he did on the night of June 7 involving Nahir Albright in his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia, must be met with nothing less than a suspension.

That evening, Davis was ringside as his brother, Kelvin, lost by a unanimous decision to Nahir Albright (17-2, 7 KOs) at the Scope in Norfolk. After the fight, Keyshawn and his brother, Keon, were caught on camera getting into an altercation with Albright. The behavior of the Davis clan was beyond the pale and boorish.

It was a disastrous weekend for The Businessman. He was supposed to be the main event of that particular fight card with a title defense against Edwin De Los Santos. However, Davis lost the WBO belt on the scales after coming in grossly overweight during the pre-fight weigh-in.

Many boxing fans are calling for Keyshawn to be punished. Word on the street is that he will receive a monetary fine. That would not suffice. Given the money he makes per fight, a fine would be a slap on the wrist. Instead, the 26-year-old must receive a suspension and a lengthy one at that.
