Adrien Broner Making Don King Productions Debut Against Bill Hutchinson
At long last, Adrien “AB” Broner (34-4-1, 24 KOs, 1 NC) has a fight signed and finalized. 3kingsboxing.com has learned that the multiple-time world champion will face Bill Hutchinson (20-2-4, 9 KOs) on June 9 at Casino Miami in Miami, Florida. The bout is a ten-round welterweight contest. It’s Broner’s first fight for Don King Productions after signing with King in March 2022.
FINDING SOME STABILITY
AB has had his share of issues landing a fight prior to inking a deal with King. In October 2022, Broner announced he signed a multi-fight, multi-year deal with BLK Prime after parting ways with long-time handlers PBC.
But that move proved to be disastrous for the 34-year-old. Scheduled matches against Ivan Redkatch, “Hammerin” Hank Lundy, and Michael Williams Jr were all cancelled. Ultimately, Broner and BLK amicably agreed to go their separate ways.
With all that drama aside, Broner faces Hutchinson, who comes into this fight on a ten-fight winning streak. But that winning streak comes with a big asterisk, as it’s been against nondescript opposition. A closer inspection of his records reveals a major cause for pause.
NOT A STRONG RESUME
Hutchinson is not a full-time fighter. The 34-year-old from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is a practicing attorney. Additionally, he’s never fought more than eight rounds, and most of his victories have come against opponents who do not have a winning record!
Broner has announced he’s sober and has given up all the vices that have curtailed his fighting career and life outside the ring. His goal is to win another world title. He hopes the last march to championship glory begins with Hutchinson. If he loses this fight, Broner needs to seriously think about calling it a day.
