Efe Ajagba vs Martin Bakole Rematch Should Happen Next
Top-rated Heavyweight contenders Efe Ajagba (21-1-1, 14 KO), and Martin Bakole (21-2-1, 16 KO) fought to a draw. Afterward, both men wasted no time in calling for a rematch.
Ajagba started boxing behind a jab, using movement to avoid Bakole’s heavy bombs. He was hitting the hard-headed Democratic Republic of the Congo native with combination shots at will. In the second half of the fight, Bakole landed punishing shots as the Nigerian decided to lean on the ropes. In the end, one judge scored it 96-94 for Ajagba, with the other two scoring it 95-95, 95-95, making it a majority draw.
Bakole may have regained some of that boogeyman status lost in a fight against Joseph Parker. During the post-fight interview, a call for a rematch was made by both fighters.
“I want the rematch for sure, but I want the rematch in the United States.” – Efe Ajagba
“I will ask his Excellency for a rematch so I can have a full camp.” – Martin Bakole
This fight deserves a rematch, and if it happens, Bakole must get disciplined and trim down to a decent weight. Ajagba needs to work on his stamina, as it was obvious he was a little gassed in the second half.
