Ali Akhmedov shows how dominant he can be!
One of Gennady Golovkin’s highly touted prospects Ali Akhmedov showcased his skills in front of a New York crowd, who packed the house to see his promoter. His opponent, Marcus McDaniel is a fellow unbeaten prospect from New Orleans. He was looking to spring a mild upset.
In the opening round, McDaniel came out looking to utilize his foot movement, angels and fast hands to neutralize the pressure of Akhmedov. Throwing a quick jab, he would land some nice right hands and an occasional left hook. He also landed some hard body shots.
Akhmedov did an excellent job of cutting off the ring and forcing excessive movement from McDaniel. In the clinch is where things would get frustrating for McDaniel, who complained about getting hit behind the head by Akhmedov’s right hand.
In third round, we saw Akhmedov land some hard right and left hands that hurt and dropped McDaniel. The fallen fighter would rise to his feet, but was clearly in no condition to continue. The time of the stoppage would come at 1:47 in the third round.
Akhmedov improves his record to 15-0, 11 KOs, while McDaniel record to drops to 15-1, 2KOs.
