Lionell Thompson Signs with Brawlers Sports Management!

3kingsboxing has recently learned that promising super middleweight Lionell “Lonnie B” Thompson (20-5, 11 KO’s) has signed with close affiliate Brawler Sports Management.

Thompson began somewhat late in boxing as he didn’t pick up the gloves until he was sixteen. Even when he did, there was no serious intent behind it.

The Buffalo, New York native was merely passing the time at a local gym when one of the trainers on hand noticed his raw ability and inquired if he had ever boxed before.

After being assured that he had a skill set that would pay dividends, Thompson began his long journey into boxing. Success would come quickly to “Lonnie B”.

The Journey

Thompson would go on to rack up more than 100 amateur victories, become a 3-time Empire State Champion and 5-time New York State Golden Gloves Champion. Then, following a failed attempt at the 2008 Olympics, Thompson turned pro on February 2, 2009.

As a professional, while Thompson has enjoyed much success, he has also had to endure his share of set backs. Following a SD loss to Radivoje Kalajdzic in 2014, “Lonnie B” took his talents to Las Vegas where he caught the eye of Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

Not long after this fortuitous encounter, Thompson officially signed to the The Money Team Promotions. The mutually beneficial union lasted roughly four years before Thompson was released from his contract.

Not one to remain stagnant, Thompson swiftly linked up with Brawler Sports Management CEO Ricardo Mohamed. Like many had before him, Mohamed could not deny New York natives incredible boxing skill.

This being the case, Mohamed was only too happy to secure the super middleweight free agent. With this professional union solidified, Brawler Sports Management and Lionel Thompson are looking forward to shaking up the division.
