Gabriela Alaniz Stops Debora Rengifo; Should Unify with Yudica Next

On September 24, WBO flyweight champion “La Chucky” Gabriela Celesta Alaniz (14-0, 6KO) turned in another excellent performance by stopping challenger Debora “La Pantera” Rengifo (18-10-1, 10KO) in the ninth round.

THE WORK RATE WAS TOO MUCH FOR RENGIFO

From the start of the bell, Alaniz went to work with jabs and hard overhand rights throughout the fight. She bewildered La Pantera by fighting off the front foot while throwing blistering combinations at a high work rate.

Rengifo tried to mount a comeback by landing a few good jabs and right hands to the body. However, La Chucky quickly responded with hard punches to the head and the body as she fought at an incredible pace.

In round seven, the champion landed a barrage of punches that saw La Pantera hit the canvas. Despite getting up, Rengifo’s corner decided to stop the beating in round nine. Alaniz was successful in the first defense of the title while scoring a third consecutive knockout victory.

A UNIFICATION IS A MUST

When the fight ended, the fans cheered for their champion as she waved and blew kisses to the crowd. With Alaniz’s victory, there is hope that unification with IBF champion Leonela Paola Yudica (18-0-3, 1KO) is next. Since both Argentinian champions were successful in their titles defenses, they are now free to stage an exciting bragging rights battle for their fans.
