3kingsboxing has learned former two-division world champion Devon Alexander (27-5-1, 14KO), will be getting back into the ring against Ivan Redkach (22-4-1, 17KO) after being out for almost a year.
This is a fight where both men need a victory to keep fighting. A loss would be devastating for both combatants at this point of their respective careers.
Alexander, age 32, is coming off a lost against former welterweight champion Andre Berto back in the summer of 2018. In his last five fights, the southpaw Missouri boxer has gone 1-3-1 while competing in the toughest division in boxing.
The former world champion is perhaps on his last leg as the window of opportunity is quickly closing. He is in a must-win situation where a defeat will leave very few options remaining.
Redkach is looking to regain his lost momentum following a knockout defeat at the hands of Dejan Zlaticanin. Since the 2015 loss, he has combined a record of 4-3-1 in his last eight fights and is coming off a two-fight win streak.
Unlike his opponent, the 33-year old Ukrainian southpaw has some positive motivation going into this fight. The challenger will have a height, reach and power advantage, which will be very important going up against the former world champion.
INTERESTING FACTS
Alexander has held the WBC and IBF title belts. He has never fought for the WBA title. His sole WBO title challenge ended in a defeat against then-champion Timothy Bradley in 2011.
Redkach has never competed for any minor title of the four major sanctioning bodies, but he has held the USBA lightweight title.
This fight is a PBC FS1 bout scheduled to take place on June 1st at Soboba Casino Resort in San Jacinto, California.
