Ancajas looking to defend his title against fellow countryman Jonas Sultan
This Saturday night IBF super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas (29-1, 20KOs) will be making the fifth defense of his title when he faces challenger Jonas Sultan (14-3, 9KOs).
The fight will be aired live on the ESPN+ app. It will be Ancajas’s second straight fight aired on the Top Rank on ESPN platform.
Sultan, who has three losses in his career, shouldn’t be looked at as an easy opponent for Ancajas. He is coming off of the best win in his career against former IBF flyweight champion John Riel Casimero.
Ancajas is coming off of a tenth round TKO over Israel Gonzalez. In that fight Ancajas appeared to be a little nervous fighting over here in America for the first time. It took him a few rounds to get in a groove but once he did, he systematically broke Gonzalez down.
This should be a good fight between two good fighters with solid power. While I think Sultan will be a game opponent, I think Ancajas has real star potential and more tools in the tool box.
I expect him to win and retain his title in an impressive fashion.
