Shoulder Injury Postpones Demetrius Andrade v Zach Parker!

A fight between unbeaten, two-divisional WBO champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (31-0, 19KOs) and unbeaten, #1 ranked WBO 168-pound contender Zach Parker (22-0, 16KOs) that was scheduled for May 21 has been postponed, according to ESPN. With a little over three weeks to go, Andrade suffered a right shoulder injury.

The fight was going to be for the interim WBO 168-pound title and would’ve earned the winner the mandatory position to challenge undisputed champion Canelo Alvarez. Andrade, one of boxing’s best fighters, made the decision to move up to super middleweight as he continues to pursue the elusive Alvarez.

At this moment, the severity of the injured right shoulder is unknown. However, Andrade is scheduled to get an MRI sometime this week to determine just how bad the injury is. Let’s hope the damage is only minor and that the fight can be rescheduled for later in the summer.

3Kings Boxing will continue to monitor the story and provide updates as they become available.
