Demetrius Andrade Takes Shots at Jermall Charlo Over Social Media

At the current moment, WBO middleweight champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (31-0, 19 KO’s) is in somewhat of a professional limbo. Despite being the champion at 160, Boo Boo was all ready to move up to super middleweight. He even had a fight scheduled with Zach Parker to serve as his premiere bout in the new division. Unfortunately, that bout was first postponed then later officially canceled when Andrade suffered a shoulder injury in camp.

With that match cast into the fire pit, the next move for the Rhode Island native is shrouded in mystery. Will he go forward with his plans to move to 168? Or, will he remain at 160 and try to see what prizefights he can secure there? At this point in the game, anything could be possible, yet a recent social media post suggests that Andrade may still have a lingering interest at middleweight.

WHEN WILL BE GOOD, SIR?!

In one of his latest social media posts, Boo Boo highlighted when he went to a post-fight conference to personally call out WBC middleweight champion Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (32-0, 22 KO’s). In response, Hit Man was rather noncommittal to a specific date or even his willingness to face Andrade at all. To make matters even worse, this clip is from the Charlo versus Williams match well back in 2016. This means Andrade has been aggressively pursuing Jermall Charlo for over five years!

TIME TO STEP UP!

In all honesty, a showdown pitting Andrade versus Jermall Charlo would be great for both fighters and the boxing public at large. It really is a shame that the match has not come together well before now. Sure, Charlo has feigned as though he was going to fight Andrade but then later changed his tune. This is compounded by the fact that Hit Man has been smothered in criticism and wholehearted requests to step up his level of opposition.

For example, rather than facing Andrade in a potential title unification bout, Charlo is slated to duel the largely irrelevant Maciej Sulecki on June 18. Also, to drive the point home, Andrade already beat Sulecki by unanimous decision in a match that he won by way of complete shutout. All three cards read 120-107, which only reinforces the question: why is Charlo fighting Sulecki in the first place?!

Let’s just hope that following his June 18 dust up, if Charlo won’t face Andrade, that they at least work their way into great bouts against stellar competition. Either way, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news.
