Andre Ward vs Oleksandr Usyk: America in 2019?
Egis Kilmas, the manager of Oleksandr Usyk, claims that he’s heard that Andre Ward wants to return to boxing at cruiserweight. He also says that’s a fight that interests them for next year in America.
Usyk is coming off a one-sided domination of former unified champion Murat Gassiev in the WBSS final.
Ward last fought in June of 2017, where he stopped Sergey Kovalev in their rematch.
A fight between these two men has been talked about among fans and pundits for the last few months. There is credibility to this possibility, as was has been teasing a return to boxing. Further, speculation would say Ward is truly interested in the showdown.
If what Kilmas is saying is true, that would be one of a few super fights to look forward to possibly happening in 2019.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that Ward returns to take on the new cruiserweight king!
