Anthony Yarde Knocks Out Alex Theran Setting Rematch With Lyndon Arthur
This is a critical time for former world light heavyweight title challenger Anthony Yarde. The 30-year-old from London, England, easily returned to his winning ways as he completely destroyed the unknown Alex Theran.
In Yarde’s last fight he was upset by current Commonwealth and WBO Inter-Continental champ Lyndon Arthur in London. It raised questions about Yarde as he was the significant favorite going in. Ranked 9th by the WBC, 13th by the WBO, and 10th by the IBF at light heavyweight, he badly wants a rematch. In order to get that fight, he needed to get passed Alex Theran with flying colors.
DIDN’T BREAK A SWEAT
This fight was a cakewalk. Less than a minute into the opening round, Yarde (22-2, 21 KOs) put Theran (23-6, 15 KOs) down on one knee with a left hook to the body. You got the real sense this was going to end soon.
After stalking his prey for a bit, Yarde put Theran down again with a left hook to the body with forty seconds to go in the round. It was obvious the southpaw was not going to get up and did not beat the count. It was literally a day of light sparring for the former world title challenger. Ironically, something he has been criticized as not doing while preparing for his fights.
Now fans can expect Yarde to seek revenge against Arthur sometime at the end of the year or the first quarter of 2022!
