Arnold Khegai Batters Belmar Preciado into Submission!
In a featherweight showdown, Arnold “Arni” Khegai (22-1-1, 13KO) put on a dominant performance en route to stopping Belmar Preciado (22-8-1, 15KO).
From the opening bell, Arni was on the front foot, working behind the jab and using the angles to perfection. His combination and counterpunches were on point as the WBO #3-rated fighter looked sharp. Preciado came to fight and found some success landing the overhand right on occasion. In addition, he went to the body, looking to slow down the aggressive Ukrainian. Yet, Khegai quickly adjusted by getting up in the Colombian’s chest and attacking the body with vicious hooks.
Going into the middle rounds, Khegai took over with overhand rights, body shots, and uppercuts. His footwork was on point as he used those angles to land several overhand shots against a fading Preciado.
As the closing rounds approached, the referee and Preciado’s corner expressed an urgency for him to show them something. Yet, he kept getting hit with hard shots and offered little resistance.
At the end of the eighth round, Preciado’s corner advised the referee he didn’t want to continue and the fight was stopped.
