Arum Says Linares vs Lomachenko Would Be Great

Linares or Beltran likely next for Lomachenko

As previously reported by 3KingsBoxing.com Vasyl Lomachenko will return to the ring April 28th on ESPN. It will be his first fight in the lightweight division according to his promoter Bob Arum.

Arum also said that he will fight one of two people next. Either Raymundo Beltran or Jorge Linares. Beltran has an upcoming fight for the vacant WBO lightweight title scheduled for February 16th so it would in all likelihood depend on whether or not he can win next month.

Arum did say when asked if Linares wins tomorrow would that be the preferred fight: “Yes absolutely Linares vs Lomachenko would be great. Yeah that is the target for April, Linares”

Linares, the WBA lightweight champion, is set to fight tomorrow night on HBO against Mercito Gesta and if he should win Arum said that he will be the preferred choice. It would be a refreshing change to actually see Arum and Linares promoter Oscar De La Hoya put a fight of this magnitude together.

Lomachenko was last seen in December in which he routed previously unbeaten and fellow P4P entrant Guillermo Rigondeaux. To be fair Rigondeaux did move up in weight from 122lbs to 130 for the fight.

The move to 135 for the two-time gold medalist was expected to be the decision after failed attempts to get other champions in the super featherweight division in the ring.
