Tyson Fury returns in September and Bob Arum finalizing a deal with Naoya Inoue!
During a sit down interview with The Athletic, promoter Bob Arum provided an announcement regarding Tyson Fury and Naoya Inoue.
According to Arum, Tyson Fury will return to the ring on either September 7 or September 21 at MSG in New York City. There is no official opponent at this present time. However, meetings are on schedule to take place between Arum and MTK Global to discuss a future opponent.
Fury made a successful Las Vegas debut on June 15, as he stopped Tom Schwarz by second round KO. He was a hit with not only the Las Vegas crowd, but the U.S. boxing and sports media.
Look for the “recognized” lineal heavyweight champion to fight a better opponent in September as he attempts to capitalize on the momentum built from the bout with Schwarz. Stay tuned to 3KingsBoxing for any further details and updates regarding Fury’s upcoming contest.
Arum Headed To Japan for Negotiations with “The Monster”
During the same interview, Arum also disclosed he’s headed to Japan to finalize a co-promotional deal with WBA regular and IBF bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue. The Japanese dynamo was solely promoted in the past by Ohashi Promotions, which is headed by Hideyuki Ohashi.
As boxing fans know, Inoue recently blasted out Emmanuel Rodriguez in two rounds on May 18 in the semifinals of the WBSS bantamweight tournament. He will face Nonito Donaire in the finals later this year.
To finalize a deal with Inoue is a major gain for Arum. The Japanese pound-for-pound fighter is fast becoming a mainstream boxing entity, an emerging international superstar. The goal for Arum would be to make more inroads in the U.S. for Inoue who has the style and personality American boxing fans would gravitate towards.
