James Ali Bashir alert after being assaulted at Shields vs Habazin weigh-in!
What was to be a typical weigh-in for their October 5 junior middleweight unification involving Claressa Shields and Ivana Habazin was anything but that.
Instead, a verbal shouting match between the sister of Shields and Habazin’s trainer James Ali Bashir may have been the cause of a violent assault that would come.
No one could have predicted what awaited! An attacker would strike an unsuspecting Bashir, knocking him out cold!
Rumor has it the attacker is the brother of Shields, however, this has yet to be confirmed.
An ambulance would immediately rush him to the hospital after the incident for further evaluation.
In the process, it’s been learned by 3kingsboxing.com that Bashir suffered some facial fractures, with surgery being an option to fix the injuries sustained.
Apparently, he is alert and speaking, which is a big “sigh” of relief to know. Furthermore, the alleged culprit is reportedly in police custody.
According to the WBC which was one of the organizations that sanctioned the bout along with the WBO, the fight has been cancelled. Showtime Sports has also confirmed this.
