Alycia Baumgardner Targeting The Winner of Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano
Shortly after being crowned undisputed junior lightweight champion, Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner (14-1, 7KO) name dropped bitter rival Mikaela Mayer (17-1, 5KO). However, now the champ is being dismissive of Mayer and shifting focus towards the winner between the undisputed champions Katie Taylor (22-0, 6KO) and Amanda Serrano (44-2-1, 30KO).

Baumgardner is riding high, sitting atop the division as its sole champion. On February 4, during the post-fight interview, The Bomb called for a fight with Taylor after defeating Elhem Mekhaled for the WBA crown.
“We want Katie Taylor. We want those mega-fights. We want those big fights. I want that challenge, I want to challenge myself.”
That same night, fans were told that Taylor and Serrano will collide in a rematch in Ireland on May 20.
BAUMGARDNER DISMISSES MAYER REMATCH AFTER CALLOUT
Keep in mind, Baumgardner hyped the idea of a Mayer rematch by proclaiming she would put the hurt on the former unified champion. That makes this next statement a bit confusing. An interviewer with iFL TV stated promoter Eddie Hearn has spoken to Top Rank about the rematch. Baumgardner was unexcited about the update and put more of a priority on fighting the Taylor vs Serrano winner.
“The fight is there to be made. We did that, we want Katie Taylor. Mikaela’s not a factor right now . . . we want the winner of Amanda and Katie – this is what we want. When we run it back with Mikaela, it’ll happen when it happens.”
Even though the rematch has financial implications, the reality is The Bomb has plenty of options with possibly more financial gain. A fight with either Taylor or Serrano will be built as another undisputed versus undisputed match-up.
Fans can be assured that Mayer’s responses will undoubtedly set social media on fire.
